What are common signs a divorce may be in your future?

On Behalf of Law Offices of Rebecca Gonzalez, P.C. | Jul 23, 2022 | Divorce

Nobody wants to admit their marriage is over, but sometimes divorce happens. If you are wondering about the state of your marriage, there may be some signs that ending your relationship is inevitable.

Newsweek reported that some of the indicators of a divorce may be subtle, but others are clear. Knowing what to look for can help you to assess the state of your relationship.

Defensive attitude

When one partner takes on a defensive attitude, it pits the couple against each other. This type of fighting attitude makes it very difficult to work things out or to make the relationship work. Look for signs of your partner constantly blaming you for things or even saying that you always do something or you never do something.

Communication breakdown

A common issue in marriages with troubles is a lack of communication. You can fix this, but not if your partner has shut down. If he or she is constantly working against you and not with you, it can be tough to come back from that. In addition, if your partner refuses to talk about his or her needs or wants, it can be difficult to move forward.

Grudges

Holding a grudge can happen, but if your spouse holds things against you without being willing to work through it, it can damage your marriage. Resentment builds up and that can be hard to overcome.

Lost interest

If you find yourself and your partner never spending together and are living completely separate lives, then you may have a problem. When a couple goes their separate ways, it can e a good indicator that they no longer find value in being together.

These issues may not be the only signs, but they are worth watching for. Marriages that are really on the rocks will often have one or all of these signs.
